Introduction: Better Relationships in 2 Minutes #1

My name is Rebecca Thompson Hitt. I have been studying human relationships since I was a teenager, and have been working professionally supporting families since 1994. I have my masters in marriage and family therapy from Barry University and a Bachelor’s in Education from Ball State University. I’m the parent of 2 teen boys and am step-parent to two grown children. I am the founder and executive director of The Consciously Parenting Project.

The goal of my organization is to share stories and information about parenting and relationships to help us be as connected as possible in our lives. Why is that important? Connection supports resilience. Connection supports our physical, mental and emotional health. Connection helps us to survive and to thrive. Anyone with a marriage that’s not working or a family with a child who is really struggling knows that connection matters.

In Better Relationships in 2 Minutes, I’m going to be exploring a wide variety of topics that support creating and nurturing healthy relationships along with healing relationships when they aren’t doing well. My ideas are based on the latest research in attachment, epigenetics, Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology, sociology, systems theory, neurobiology, trauma resolution, and more. They’ll be in short segments with lots of stories and I hope it will be something you’ll look forward to watching. If you hear something that catches your attention, please share these videos with your friends and loved ones. Have conversations about them. Join our conversations on our website and social media. Share your voice and help make our world a healthier place to live. Our world has a lot of pain in it right now. Change happens in our families and in our everyday relationships, then ripples out. Changing our relationships is what will change the world. I hope you’ll join us for this series!
