Rebecca Thompson Hitt is here to support families who are ready to move out of conflict and find peace. She offers positive tools that help support families to reconnect or stay connected through challenges, the ones we ALL have when parenting our little or big people. And, yes, even the more difficult challenges. She believes that our behaviors are communications and we need to shift the way we’re looking at these difficult situations to move through them with love and connection.
As we each do our work in our own homes, we are joining a growing group of families from around the world doing the same thing. Together we are making a difference one family at a time. Rebecca has a dream of supporting this growing movement of finding peace in our own homes and realizing that we are helping make the world a more peaceful place. World peace begins at home. It’s what we have the power to change and it DOES make a difference. Consciously Parenting is how we make those changes in our families and in our world.
Rebecca began The Consciously Parenting Project, LLC in 2007. She had been struggling as a parent, trying the same old things that we all do when we feel out of control and it had only made things worse. Turns out that all the fancy degrees in the world* didn’t help, and that true change happened when she was able to let go of trying to “make” her son do what she wanted him to do and actually connect with him and his story. Finally, through a series of divine connections and healing opportunities, she could see her family was turning around and she wanted to share what she had learned with others who were ready to make a change. Sounds simplified, but it was anything but easy. Rebecca’s family isn’t perfect, but they have the tools now to move through the challenges that come up in family life- together. And that makes all the difference.
Over the last 10 years since Consciously Parenting was started, Rebecca has supported many families on their journeys of transformation, from families who have adopted children with special needs, families who had a difficult beginning (birth), to children who have been diagnosed with an alphabet of labels. Rebecca is able to see things from a new perspective that promotes healing in families, from the very smallest members to the grown-ups and couples. In addition to her work with new families, she has recently been working with many teens and their parents on issues like anxiety and depression, helping them find their way through it together.
Recently, Rebecca has been enjoying working with families with babies. Her newest offering is a revolutionary process called Healing Stories, which especially helps babies to recover from their overwhelming births. Many families have found it to be an effective solution for problems with colic, breastfeeding, and sleeplessness. The Healing Stories approach can also be applied in all families, even with older children, to create more connection and to heal together.
Rebecca is the author of 3 books (Consciously Parenting: What it really Takes to Raise Emotionally Healthy Families, Creating Connection: Essential Tools for Growing Families through Conception, Birth and Beyond, and Nurturing Connection: What Parents Need to Know about Emotional Expression and Bonding), numerous classes and recordings, and interviews parents and professionals on her podcast, The Consciously Parenting Podcast, which began in 2017. Rebecca is trained in Child-Parent Psychotherapy, a model that supports families with children under 6 to heal trauma.
The Consciously Parenting Project is a collaboration between Rebecca, professionals who want to make things different for parents, and families from around the world. Together, we’re making the world a better place one family at a time! We hope that you’ll pull up a seat and join us!

What Parents are Saying about Working with Rebecca:
“Before working with Rebecca, I had tried three different psychotherapists for over a year and a half to help me process my daughter’s emergency c-section birth. With them, I never felt like I was really getting at the heart of this quite traumatic experience. When I finally had a video session with Rebecca, the way that she listened and reflected back my experience finally helped me make sense of what I had felt. She brought deeply caring, calm energy to our process, and her skill at working with my nervous system felt like a huge relief. She helped me put the words to what I had felt, and come away feeling more integrated about my daughter’s birth. Rebecca is an invaluable resource, and I continue to rely on her parenting support four years later.”

“Whenever I show up to Rebecca, change happens.”
-Jen Chendea
“Rebecca is real, authentic, she owns her own stuff and her journey through it, out the other side.” -Susan Stroemel Graham
“Rebecca affirms that she truly understands where we are, and that makes it seem more attainable when we talk about where we want to be, or what we can accomplish. Also, having conversations about what works for OUR family, not an abstract idea of the perfect family, gets me to listen.” -D’Anne Dougherty
“Rebecca’s words and the way she presents ideas are respectful and compassionate. Certain ideas she shares truly “resonate” with me and I can feel the truth of the message instantly. I think this is because she listens deeply and is connected with her intuition, and she is able to speak at the heart of what someone else is experiencing.” -Bethany Springer
