Podcast Episode #1 – The Oasis of Literacy

Connecting Through Reading, Storytelling, and Singing

It’s today! We’re launching The Consciously Parenting Project’s new podcast! We couldn’t be more excited to start off with one of our favorite parenting authors, Pam Leo. We really enjoyed this conversation about connecting through reading, storytelling, and singing and we hope you will, too.

I love having deep and meaningful conversations with people who really care about children. That’s just one of the reasons why I’m so pleased to announce the launch of my very first podcast episode with my friend and colleague, Pam Leo. Pam is the author of Connection Parenting and founder of her new love, The Book Fairy Pantry Project. You’ll get a sneak peek into her new passion and why literacy makes such a difference in the lives of all families. Together, we explore WHY reading, singing, and storytelling is SO important for our kids. Most of us know that our kids are learning essential pre-reading skills before they even go to school, but we don’t necessarily really understand what those really are. We’ll be talking about what you need to know to give your kids a good start.

Don’t have little ones? We’ll also be talking about older children, too, and you’ll learn WHY it’s so important to connect through literacy. When Pam and I had younger children, we knew reading was important, but we really didn’t get the WHY. We’d like to share some ideas with you. And if you’re one of those parents who doesn’t like reading to your kids, we have some ideas for you, too! You’ll learn why it’s so important to talk to your kids and narrate your day, even when your kids are teens!

This is part of a 3-part series, so you’ll have access to the first 20-minute episode right now, then Part 2 will be available next Friday, May 12, 2017 and Part 3 will be available the following Friday, May 19, 2017. Let us know what you think of this conversation and be sure to share it with your friends if you find it helpful!
