I truly have a deeper understanding of triggers now. Yesterday, I had to enrolled my girls back into public school, after attending a private school for 3 years. They were politely asked to leave the private school because of their learning disabilites. My girls were attending the private school because of HUGE issues with the public school while they were in our home as foster/adoptive placements. We were in the process of adopting when we challenged the agency for special services and resources for our girls. Well, unbeknownest to me the Sp.Ed director was a friend of the agency director and they worked together to sabotage our adoption (and almost succeeded). They worked together, went to court and told the court that I was a bad mother and did not love the girls....one of their reasons was, I dressed them to neatly and did their hair too neatly, also, so I was masking my true feelings with this behavior.....I'm a stylist and have raised 3 sons, duh!!! hair...girls for the first time  Well, let me tell you, just stepping into that school made my heart race, my breathing labored and my head spin. I now have a FULL understanding of what my girls and children of trauma go through, and if it's 10 fold like some say, God Bless our children and God Bless, Heather and Bryan, for their work. I'm also thankful to Eric Guy, as he is the Post trained therapist we have worked with for nearly 3 years.

Blessings and healing for all!

Darlene, this is such a great experience to have! I think it's so easy to minimize our children's reactions to things as mundane and socially expected as public school. But you have so brilliantly illustrated how hard it can actually be. Now just imagine you HAD to go there every stinkin' day no matter what!

I love it when I have experiences like this. They are such eye-openers, aren't they? Sort of like this ------>

This experience was such an eye opener, that I also have went on to take course in Special Ed Law and I'm now a Special Ed Advocate. Our children sometimes need us to be a extra voice for them. I truly hope I can help others with my training in BCLC and Special Ed.

It's been a blessing having my girls and these challenges in my life. Before I had no voice, and let others walk all over me, but since the Model I've had a clearer understanding of who I am and who I can be, so I thank my girls for this journey and lens clearing.
