Hello all,
I'm Rox, age 54, and I adopted Jesse (age 13) in June, 06. I am single and I considered adoption of an older child for many years prior to actually taking the leap. I was married for 4 years and during that time also lived with a step-daughter (age 14 when first married) who literally did not speak to me other than to say "Hi/Bye", "telephone". "yes/no" (one time she did ask "how are you" and I almost fainted) for the entire time I was there. I wish I had known of Post then. It seems that my path in life seems to be dealing with teenage angst without personalizing it. I have a long way to go. I cannot tell you how happy I am to beginning with this group!
